Artist: Cher Breeze

Lives in Halfway Creek, NSW.
Cher Breeze is a professional photographer and artist. Ms Breeze recently conducted a major photographic survey of indigenous artists and their art. This body of work will be published in a book titled Stepping Stones in November. A Regional Significance Assessment photographic survey for regional museums in the Northern Rivers Region for Arts Northern Rivers NSW was also undertaken by the artist.
Ms Breeze has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Art School in Sydney where she majored in painting and sculpture. She has exhibited in Sydney Galleries and was a finalist in the Grafton Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award in 2004.
The research of different cultures and environments is an ongoing plan for her future art practice, education and social awareness.
During her residency in Ashfield, Ms Breeze will hold a range of workshops with a focus on using recycled materials. There will be sessions designed for toddlers. Another lot of workshops will suit the 10yrs to 15yrs age group. There is also a project that will be undertaken for the Ashfield Library. Children from three local preschools will be invited to assist with the creation of three canvasses to be displayed on the Kids Wall in the library. Click here to find out more about Ms Breeze.
During the next school holidays there will be a one-off hebel block carving workshop for young people aged 10yrs plus. These works will form a community display at the Carnival of Cultures before they are returned to the people who made them.
Free workshops and exhibition will be held at Thirning Villa, 40 Arthur Street, Ashfield.
