| Priorities:
Lance Dale was one of three new Greens elected to
Council in 2004.
Lance Dale lives in the North Ward of Ashfield with
his wife and two young children. He is currently
employed as an Industrial Officer with the NSW
Division of the National Tertiary Education Industry
Union (NTEU) where he is responsible for industrial
issues at the University of Western Sydney.
His career has spanned across the community and public
sectors and the trade union movement. In the community
sector, he worked for a number of years in youth and
generalist community agencies in Western Sydney. His
public sector credentials include project work for the
NSW Premiers Department's Cabramatta Project, and the
Forestry Structural Adjustment Unit. He has also
worked for a number of years with the Finance Sector
Union and as a student advocate at the University of
Technology, Sydney.
His interests include: social justice, youth, children
and family issues, community development, industrial
relations,the built and natural
environment, multiculturalism, small business and
economic development. He is an avid sports fan,
outdoor recreation enthusiast and loves playing with
his kids in the local parks. He used to enjoy reading
but unfortunately, since becoming a councillor finds
he no longer has the time. Instead, (and perhaps as
the mid life crisis begins to bite) he is increasingly
indulging his passion for hard rock music and
nominates vintage bands such as Deep Purple, Queen,
the Kinks and Aerosmith as amongst his favourites.
More recently, he has developed a great liking for the
more contemporary and popular sounds of the Foo
Fighters, Evanescence and The Darkness.
Lance Dale seeks an open council which actively
promotes community participation and consultation. He
seeks a council which will build on the areas
strengths (its diverse ethnic communities, heritage
values and assets, geographical proximity to the city).
He seeks sustainable development which is shaped by
the community and not simply imposed from the outside
by big developer interests.
He nominates the sucessful No M4 East campaign,
affordable housing, environmental and community
services initiatives, town centre improvements and
opposition to WorkChoices and opposition to
innapropriate development generally, as amongst some
of the Greens achievements on council to date.
