| Scott Gartrell, his wife Clare and their three children have lived in the Ashfield area for over 10 years.
Scott has worked to improve local schools and childcare facilities. He's involved in local soccer and cricket clubs, serving as Secretary and President of the Summer Hill Cricket Club for 10 years. Improving local parks and their facilities is one of his major priorities.
Scott also wants to revitalise the local business area and clean up local streets.
Scott Gartrell has worked in government, the private sector and the union movement. He now works as a consultant, after holding Director roles at a major national construction company and ‘big 4' professional services firm. In the mid-1990s, Scott held senior roles with the Australian Government as Secretary of the National Procurement Board and Director of the Construction Industry Development Agency. He has a strong background in industrial relations and the Australian labour movement, where he worked as an elected official for 8 years in the 1980s, in early campaigns for industry superannuation and workplace safety.
Scott has been a member of the ALP since the mid 1970s, joining Young Labor and then serving as Secretary of the Artarmon, Stanmore and Summer Hill Branches of the ALP over the following years. Scott moved to Sydney in 1970 with his family, from Orange in central NSW.
