Ashfield Council Centre Redevelopment

Ashfield Council is redeveloping its Administration Building and Civic Centre at 260 Liverpool Road, Ashfield to meet the needs of its staff and community, now and into the future. The redeveloped Council Centre is a leading example of sustainable and modern urban design.

The Ashfield Council Centre Redevelopment brings with it many benefits to Council's customers, users of Council's facilities and Council staff, including:

Stages 1 & 2 have now been completed and inclue:

State of the art library, twice the size of the old facility
New accessible customer service area
New community meeting rooms
New & Refurbished staff accommodation
Outdoor plaza/forecourt area on Liverpool Rd

Stage 3 to be completed June 2012

The Design and Construction of the Stage 3 works include the following 3 major components;

POPE upgrading of the Town Hall into a fully functioning 300 seat theatre and activity space, including a new floor, with an upgrade to the kitchen and amenities.
The fit out of a purpose built youth resource facility located in the basement.
Construction of a mezzanine level for the fit out of an accessible, purpose built space for Early Childhood Health or a Family Hub including consulting rooms, with the installation of new ground floor public toilet facilities below to service the Town Hall patrons.

The construction of the new facilities is expected to start in March 2012, with completion required no later than the end of June 2012.

Ashfield Council Centre Development Application

Ashfield Council approved the Development Application for the Ashfield Civic Centre Redevelopment at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 22 July 2008.

The Development Application (No 2008.128) was submitted by Ashfield Council following an extensive planning and community consultation process. The application was on public exhibition until Tuesday 24 June 2008 and was assessed by an independent planning consultant.
