The Swim School is based at Ashfield Aquatic Centre and is run by Ashfield Council in partnership with Royal Life Saving. All instructors are AUSTSWIM qualified and provide a fun, safe and professional learning environment for kids and adults.
Anyone can learn how to swim at the Ashfield Aquatic Centre. Whether the kids want to learn, or Mum and Dad want to learn, there is something we can offer for you to build your skills and confidence in the water, or to learn more about water safety. The indoor pool is heated to 30° and the outdoor is heated to 26° so swimming is comfortable all year round.
Our aim is to "provide participants with the confidence and technique to perform the essential life skill of swimming as well as to offer a wide variety of swimming experiences that will encourage students to pursue a variety of aquatic activities throughout a lifetime".
We offer a wide variety of levels to cater for all swimming abilities. Programs include term programs or holiday programs. Instructors are Austswim qualified and aim to teach a combination of progression skills with safety awareness.
Swimming is a great form of low impact general exercise that can help to keep you fit and toned. Most importantly, knowing how to swim greatly reduces the risk of drowning. Many child drownings devastatingly occur yearly and many are preventable if kids know how to swim.
Ashfield Swim School has three program levels for kids (Wonder, Courage and Active) and learners work towards awards within those levels.
