Nominations open for the Ashfield Council Australia Day Awards 2010

 Ashfield Council and the Australia Day Council of NSW are pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the Ashfield Council Australia Day Awards 2010. 

 These awards recognise and honour outstanding personal achievement and service to the community and are an integral part of national Australia Day Celebrations.  

The Ashfield Council Australia Day Awards will be presented at a special ceremony on Australia Day, Tuesday 26 January 2010. 

CounciI welcomes your nomination for someone you feel deserves recognition for their work or achievements. 

Nominations are now open for the following award categories: 

§ Citizen of the Year (aged over 26 years)

§ Young Citizen of the Year (aged 25 years or under)

Those people who have been recognised by Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year Awards have come from many walks of life and have achieved in a wide range of fields - the arts, science, community service, the environment and sport.  Collectively, the recipients of these awards reflect the kinds of values we, as Australians, respect and hope to advance, such as the pursuit of excellence, a commitment to a tolerant and diverse society, a fair go and community involvement.

 § Young Artist/Sportsperson of the Year (aged 25 years or under)

The category recognises a young person who is a high achiever in the arts or sport.
