Building Code of Australia & Australian Standards

All Developments must meet the Building Code of Australia, which is comprised of two volumes:

Volume 1 - Class 2 to 9 buildings (includes flats, shops, offices, factories and public buildings)
Volume 2 - Class 1 and 10 buildings (housing and outbuildings)

Building Code of Australia (BCA) took effect in Australia in 1992 and has become what is now called the BCA 2008.

You can purchase a copy of the Building Code of Australia or get more information from the Australian Building Codes Board on 1300 857 522.

The Code also calls up various Australian Standards within the numerous parts of which also must be complied with. You can purchase them from Standards Australia on 1300 65 46 46.
