In 2009 the newly named Eora Garden has become the home to many events and activities.
The Eora Garden contains a garden shed with bbq facilities that is used by local groups to provide social activities for local residents of boarding houses, people with disabilities, and other community groups.
History of the Community Garden in Summer Hill
The Community Garden and shed was opened in September 2006.The community garden is and continues to be a public space designed for the use of local residents.
Many and varied events take place in the garden and local groups using the space include Mary MacKillop Outreach, New Horizons, Neighbourhood Aid, The Ella Community Centre, and most recently the Ashfield Community Gardeners.
Where is the Eora Garden located?
The Eora Garden in Summer Hill is located on 135 Smith Street, Summer Hill above the Share childcare centre - just up from the Summer Hill Community Centre.

The Ashfield Community Gardeners are a group of local residents who, with the encouragement and support of Council, have formed an association in order to undertake and promote community gardening in the Ashfield Local Government Area. Ashfield Council has granted use of the Eora Garden in Summer Hill for the purposes of productive gardening. Use, access to the land, consent for any structure or changes to the land is subject to Council restrictions. Council is also currently exploring further options for community gardening in the Ashfield Local Government Area.
