Current Rating Structure Explained

Ashfield Council has adopted the following Rating Structure for the 2013/14 Financial Year:

Residential Properties

Residential Properties in the Ashfield Local Government Area will all attract the following charges:

  1. Residential Base Rate – this is a flat rate charged to all properties.
  2. Residential Rate in the Dollar – this is a rate which is calculated by multiplying your land value by the relevant rate in the dollar set by Ashfield Council.
  3. Domestic Waste Charge – this rate is dependent on what domestic waste service you have elected for your property.
  4. Stormwater Rate – for residential properties this is charged at $25.00 per single unit dwellings and $12.50 per multi-unit dwellings (strata units).
  5. Environmental Levy Base Rate - this is a flat rate charged to all properties.
  6. Environmental Levy Rate in the Dollar - this is a rate which is calculated by multiplying your land value by the relevant rate in the dollar set by Ashfield Council.

 

Business Properties

Business Properties in the Ashfield Local Government Area will all attract the following charges:

  1. Business Rate in the Dollar (Minimum Rate applies) - this is a rate which is calculated by multiplying your land value by the relevant rate in the dollar set by Ashfield Council. If the amount charged is less than the minimum business rate, your property will automatically attract the minimum charge.
  2. Stormwater Rate – for business properties this is charged at $25 per 350sqm or part thereof of the total land area. Business strata properties will be charged at the same rate as residential strata properties, or as a unit-share of $25 per 350sqm or part thereof, which ever is the greater.
  3. Environmental Levy Base Rate - this is a flat rate charged to all properties.
  4. Environmental Levy Rate in the Dollar - this is a rate which is calculated by multiplying your land value by the relevant rate in the dollar set by Ashfield Council.
  5. Business Waste Charge – This service is dependent on what service you have elected for your property. This service is not mandatory, however Council requests an alternate waste management plan be in place for your property if you elect not to use Council’s business waste service.
