Cycling

Cycling is a great recreational activity that not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but those using cycling as an alternative to car use are also reducing air pollution and traffic congestion. Ashfield Council is working with the community to improve cycling facilities within the Municipality.

Local Street Bike Route Network

White bicycle symbols have been painted on Ashfield's roads to indicate that the road is part of our ‘Local Street Bike Route Network'. This is a series of routes which have been identified during our bike forum as cyclist friendly and the symbols aim to increase driver awareness of bike users. When the whole set of white bicycles has been put in place the network will stretch over 10km. Particular thanks go to Ashbug members for identifying where to put the symbols.
