Tutors at the library

A free homework tutors service is provided to assist with any school homework or study questions that young people in Year 4 to 12 may have. This program focuses on homework assistance in a group setting. Bring your homework and drop in to the library. Homework help will be on every week, except during school holidays:

Ashfield Library every Wednesday in The Study Room between 3.30-5.30pm.

This free online service connects students to qualified, expert tutors for one-to-one help with homework, assignments, exam preparation and study questions.
This service is available to students from Year 4 to Year 12. Access the online classroom here from 4pm to 8pm on weekdays.

What subjects can I get assistance with?

This online tutoring service is designed for students in Years 4 to 12. Students can access one on one support in the following subjects:

Mathematics 

  • Year 4 - 6 maths
  • Year 7 - 10 maths
  • Year 11-12 General maths
  • Year 11-12 Intermediate maths
  • Year 11-12 Specialist/Extension Maths 

Science  

  • Year 4 - 6 science
  • Year 7 - 10 science
  • Year 11-12 General science
  • Year 11-12 Biology
  • Year 11-12 Chemistry
  • Year 11-12 Physics 

English 

  • General English 
  • Essay writing 

Assignment Research

  • Finding information, organising reports or assignments etc

Study Skills  

  • Time management, note taking skills, revision techniques etc  

How do I access the service?

This service can be accessed from remote computers and the Library's PCs. Currently Ashfield Council has a restricted licence, which limits the number of people that can access the online classroom at any one time.

  1. Log on using the link at top of the page. Log on between 4pm to 8pm on weekdays, as the service is not available outside these hours.

Select your subject and year level.

  1. You will then enter an online classroom where you will be connected to a live tutor that suits your subject area. You can ask them questions using the service's online messaging technology.
  2. If the site is unavailable due to other users, you will be put on a waiting list to be connected to an online classroom with a tutor.

When is the service available?

The service is available by logging on to Ashfield Library's web page and following the links between 4pm and 8pm on weekdays. The service is not available outside these hours due to the online, real-time nature of this service.
