Maintenance and repair of lighting in parks and reserves
Any requests for maintenance should be referred to Works and Engineering Services on telephone 9716 1987 for determination/actioning.
The maintenance and repair of lighting in parks and reserves is carried out by either Energy Australia or Council, depending on the particular park and type of light involved.

Request for new lighting in parks and reserves
Requests for additional lighting in parks and reserves must be made in writing and include location where the requested lighting is required and details supporting the request for the lighting.

Council staff, in consultation with Energy Australia will investigate the request.

Decisions on requests will be based on the Australian Standard for street lighting and on a priority needs basis in accordance with available funds.

Pesticide Use Notification  - July/August 2009

In accordance with the Pesticides Regulation 1995 and Ashfield Council's Pesticide Use Notification Plan, Council is notifying owner/occupiers and the general public that contractors engaged by Council will be carrying out broad leaf pesticide spraying in the Ashfield Local Government Area. 

 Scheduled Parks Broad - Leaf Weed Spraying

 From 30 July 2009 to 28 August 2009 Contractors engaged by Council will be carrying out weed spraying of all Parks in the Ashfield Local Government Area. 

 The following locations will be treated with a non selective herbicide for the control of all broadleaf weeds including bindii and clover

  • All grassed areas of Parks including sports fields.

 Contractors will be spraying these areas with Chipco Spearhead ® Selective Herbicide a chemical with a low toxicity ranking.

 Should extended periods of inclement weather be experienced during the weed spraying program updates will be posted on Council's web site, and a further notification will be made to properties where required.
