In partnership with Chinese Australian Settlement Services (CASS) Council provides a free Language Assistance Program for Ashfield residents who experience difficulties communicating with Government officials or understanding Government correspondence. This includes a form filling service (excluding visa of immigration forms).
Language assistance is available at Ashfield Civic Centre every Monday from 10-12pm. For an appointment please call CASS on:(02) 9789 4587 (press “2” for reception).
Ashfield Council provides an English conversation program every Friday from 10am-12pm during the school terms. The objective of the program is to give participants skills in spoken English which will equip them to deal with every day common situations where they need to deal with officials, seek help and interact with the general public.
Emphasis will be on the use of spoken English and listening skills necessary to convey meaning in English and to understand what is being said. English allows the student to participate in social situations and interact with other people in the community.
For more information please ring Council on 9716 1800 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
This program is funded by Wests Ashfield Leagues.
Ashfield Council, in partnership with the Metro Migrant Resource Centre, is running a new multicultural social support group for migrant and refugee families living in the Inner West.
The group meets every Thursday during school terms. By participating in the weekly activities, you will have opportunities to meet other families living in the area, make new friends, learn about Australian culture and local services, as well as take part in some interesting activities. You are welcome to bring your children with you to the group activities. For more info about the group and the activities, please contact Dinaz Rather on 9798 1700 or Dinaz.Rather@metromrc.org.au.
