Our Story

Last year Australian readers were asked to vote for the books they thought best described what it's like to live in, be from, visit or in some other way connect with the eight different states and territories. The aim was to create a collection of books which, if read together, articulates the Australian experience - remote, regional, suburban and metropolitan.

A mystery, a memoir, a journey into the outback, a sinister and haunting tale, an unsolved disappearance, uncontrollable desires, the horrors of war, laughter, heartbreak and a dark secret - you will find them all in the eight books which Australians have decided will be the National Year of Reading 2012 collection.

Perhaps you would like to use the collection for your book group?
