Ashfield Council is obligated to exhibit the WestConnex Environmental Impact Statement. On Wednesday 23 September, Council held a Public Meeting about the WestConnex EIS. The Ashfield Town Hall was almost filled to capacity with residents who intelligently and passionately expressed their distress towards the unjustifiable WestConnex project.

On Wednesday 29 July, Council hosted a meeting for all residents, owners and tenants, whose properties are being acquired for the WestConnex development with Council's laywer providing information about their rights and the process. The meet was attended by about 50 local residents who used the 'Question and Answer' forum to ask practical questons and voice their understandable distress about the circumstances they find themselves in. Council estimates there are about 250 households affected in Ashfield and Haberfield.
