Inner West Council

Revitalisation of Croydon North

Project Objectives

Council  identified a number of objectives for the revitalisation project:

  • To increase the profile of the Croydon business and commercial area
  • To unify the northern and southern districts of the commercial area, intersected by the railway corridor, to stimulate increased interaction between the two areas
  • To improve the link to the Ashfield Aquatic Centre
  • To increase the usability of public open space in the area
  • To improve parking and attractiveness of the area
  • To ensure the revitalisation work is to the satisfaction of key stakeholders

Final Concept Masterplan

Council appointed urban design and landscape architects Conybeare Morrison who developed a Final Concept Masterplan for the Croydon North precinct.  The Masterplan addressed aspects necessary to create a successful neighbourhood retail and commercial precinct for Croydon North, including traffic, parking, streetscape, including street trees, awnings and facades and improvements to pedestrian access and amenity. It will also acknowledged the importance of key landmark features and buildings of local heritage significance.
