It is possible, in certain circumstances, to change the zone or development controls applying to a property. This is known as rezoning. Please visit the Rezoning Applications page for advice about rezoning in the Ashfield Council area.
Ashfield Council is currently preparing a new comprehensive Local Environmental Plan for the Ashfield Council area. Details of this project are available on our web site.
The Department of Planning (DOP) has stated that it will consider spot rezoning proposals on merit and have also requested that Council consider specific criteria when determining whether or not to progress an application to prepare minor amendments to an existing local environmental plan (known as ‘spot rezoning”).
