Ashfield and Haberfield Libraries are proud to present two competitions to celebrate the Book Week 2014 theme of: Connect to Reading!
Children in grades K-2 are asked to draw a picture of the cover of their favourite book.
Children in grades 3-6 are asked to write a short story about what it would be like to have dinner with their favourite book character.
Pick up an entry form at Ashfield Library, Haberfield Library or on our website. Winners will be invited to a special presentation on Friday August 22nd 2014.

Ashfield Library is holding its first ever comic convention,Comic Con-versation.Kings Comics are partnering with us and will be selling during the event.There will be many localgraphic novelists/artistscoming along and participating in a fun,entertaining and educational evening of workshops, panel discussions and more!
Refreshments will be available, and fantastic prizes will be given away on the night. You will have the chance to mingle and engage with the talented and active local comics community.
We are very excited to announce that our very special guest will be Bruce Mutard, the highly regarded author of books such as The Silence and The Sacrifice.

Christine Donehue will present a self expressive craft workshop on the theme of appreciating each person’s unique qualities. The workshop will use collage, writing, discussion and a meditation activity with guided commentaries.
Suitable for adults of all ages, no art or craft experience necessary.
Materials and morning tea will be provided.

Ashfield Library now has a dedicated Local Studies room on level 2 Ashfield Civic Centre.
The hours of opening for local studies and family history research are:
Mondays and Tuesdays 10am-1pm and Thursdays 2pm-5pm.
The room is also open for private study on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1.15pm-3.15pm.
